IMRE MARK PETKOV
LIGHTING DESIGNER / CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIST
Im a Copenhagen-based lighting designer and creative technologist, working across exhibitions, installations, and performing arts. I collaborate closely with designers, curators, artists, and production teams, drawing on 3+ years in the exhibition design department at the National Museum of Denmark and an independent practice running in parallel since 2018.
With an MSc in Lighting Design and a BA in Art & Technology, my work brings together design, technology, and art, from early concept and visual design to technical delivery.
My practice spans architectural/theatrical lighting, professional AV and show control, generative and real-time visuals, and 3D design/fabrication. I work with everything from industry-standard systems to open-source and DIY, balancing impact, budget, reliability, and reuse.
Inventive problem-solving is where I'm at my strongest, and I stay in close dialogue with the people I build with, settling the technical groundwork early so the idea and the practical constraints develop together.
Beneath the tools and techniques, I'm driven by a sincere appreciation and understanding of creative processes, underpinned by systems thinking across disciplines and a keen aesthetic sense. I approach projects and people alike with curiosity, enthusiasm, and care. If you have something in mind, get in touch — I'd love to hear about it.
